For Parents: When, Where and What

The program runs from 9:15 to 3:15.  In general we will we will meet and pick up at the band stand at the foot of Main street in Cold Spring. If your child is permitted to walk home or take the train please let us know.

What to bring:

  • Water bottle
  • Sunscreen.
  • Lunch.
  • Raincoat or foul weather gear.  If rain is heavy or prolonged we stay inside.  Light rain or drippy weather will not deter us.
  • We will supply a PFD (life jacket), but feel free to bring your own if you would like.
  • Water shoes.  It is best to have something with sides. Sandals and flip flops tend to leave you unprotected. Crocs are good.  This will need to be something you can walk in. Sometimes we will row somewhere and then hike a bit.
  • Insect repellant is optional. We don’t usually have a problem with bugs but have been known to break out the spray on occasion

Note: Water and electronics do not mix. These devices are brought at the participant’s own risk.


Safety is first.  All students are required to wear an approved PFD while on the water.  Instructors will carry cell phones and vhf marine radios.
